After getting 62.6 percent of the total votes, Wyatt Smith and Lori Murphy have been elected Vanderbilt Student Government president and vice president for the 2009-2010 term.

Students packed the lobby of Sarratt Student Center to hear the results announced Thursday at 12:30 p.m. Crowds of supporters of both tickets assembled to hear the results.

Seventy percent of the student body voted in this election, VSG Attorney General Jared Anderson said. A total of 2,816 students voted for Wyatt and Murphy. Fabiani Duarte and Deno Sclarides received 1,600 votes, 35.6 percent of the total turnout. Write-in Jim Wiggington pulled in 42 votes.

The amendments about House procedure passed.
