The Vanderbilt Fine Arts Gallery is hosting an exhibit entitled “Pigxote” by the alternative artist and Nashville native, Harmony Korine. Korine is best known for his collaboration with director Gus Van Sant in the movie “Good Will Hunting,” and for his own breakout film, “Kids.” “Pigxote” features a series of 49 photographs from his previously unreleased private collection. The series, taken during his trip to Japan in 2000, includes pictures of Japanese girls in front of a series of changing backgrounds. The photographs are of various television shows that inspired the artist and are arranged in groups of three and four.

“I was watching television late at night, and I kept falling in love with the girls on the screen (so) I started photographing the screen,” said Korine in his official press release.
This exhibit displays Korine’s unique artistic visions and distaste for lucid plot lines and conventional arrangements.

The exhibit will remain on display in the Fine Arts Gallery (The old gym), through Feb. 26. The gallery is open from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends. Like all other exhibits hosted by the Vanderbilt Fine Arts Gallery, “Pigxote” is free and open to the public.
