Engineering students will finally get some time to showcase their intelligence during this week's engineering E-Week events. Monday, Feb. 16 kicks off Vanderbilt's annual engineering week during which various contests showcase the talents of students in the engineering school.

The first event, on Feb. 16, is the classic egg-drop event where students have an hour to devise a contraption to safely drop an egg down three stories. The egg drop will be held in Featheringill from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., and cash prizes will be awarded to the winner. Then, on Wednesday, Feb. 18, Featheringill will host a robot-programming contest from 11 a.m. to noon and a tower building competition from 11 a.m. to 2p.m. The Zome stick building competition will test engineers' design skills from noon to 2 p.m. in the Stevenson library. On Thursday, Feb. 19, the Fastest Geek computer-building competition's preliminary round will take place at 11:00 a.m. in the Featheringill atrium. The finals will be held in Featheringill on Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and prizes include a new Dell laptop.

These events are intended to promote the engineering field to the Nashville community and other Vanderbilt students. The competitions are open to the public to attend.
