After two third-place finishes in January, the top-ranked Vanderbilt women's bowling team felt it was capable of far better. In fact, junior Josie Earnest said she expected exceptional things from the Commodores in their upcoming tournaments.

Those expectations came to fruition over the weekend as the Commodores won for the first time in 2009 with a come-from-behind victory in the Morgan State Invitational. Out of 30 teams Vanderbilt came out on top, finishing six pins ahead of 3rd-ranked Nebraska, 8,803-8,797.

"We know that if we perform up to our potential we should have a good chance of winning," said senior Michelle Peloquin.

The win marked Vanderbilt's fourth tournament victory of the season. The Commodores take two weeks off before competing at the Holiday Classic in Bessemer, Ala.
