Why do we have weird break times and, more importantly, shorter breaks compared to other colleges? For one, our winter break was really short compared to some colleges like MIT or Georgia Tech who got around a month off. Apparently, we are supposed to get a three week break off for winter next year, which should definitely help. But what about our spring break? Don't get me wrong - I had a great spring break but at the same time, why is ours so early in March? It was actually snowing in my hometown (Atlanta) this past week and I heard it was also snowing in Nashville. When I think about spring break, the last thing I think about is snow. And why don't we get holidays to celebrate days such as Martin Luther King Jr. Day? I understand that Vanderbilt is a private college that can choose to have its own breaks, but when other private colleges get these days off, it seems a bit unfair to me that we don't. Maybe I'm complaining too much but it is hard when our only break during spring semester is spring break. We should have more days off.
