Traci C. West, theologian from Drew University, will speak at 7 p.m. on March 26 in Benton Chapel on "Lying on Women: Religion, Race and Intimate Violence in the African Diaspora." West is a professor of ethics and African American studies at Drew University. Her lecture will address how Christian theology and activism can be a tool to counter violence against women.

West's lecture is part of the annual Antoinette Brown Lecture, which began in 1974. In the past, the lecture has featured Sallie McFague, Stephanie Paulsell, Amina Wadud and Sharon Welch. West is the author of several books and is an ordained elder in the New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.

The lecture is free and open to the public.
