Senior Ayo Ositelu was announced as the 2009 Young Alumni Trustee Tuesday afternoon.

The YAT slate consisted of seniors Ositelu, Lauren Page Black and Joseph Williams, which was determined by a panel of juniors and recent graduates in early February.

Members of the classes 2008, 2009 and 2010 were sent online ballots with information about each of the candidates. Voting ended March 20 at midnight.

Ositelu, a Chancellor’s Scholar, is also president of the African Student’s Union, vice president of the Biomedical Engineering Society and Regional Academic Excellence Chair for the National Society of Engineers.

If Ositelu is unable to complete his term, Black will be asked to serve as the Young Alumni Trustee.

Voting in the process increased by a record-breaking 60.9 percent, explained Christina Barnes of the Office of Alumni Relations. There was a 71.5 percent voting increase from students and a 23 percent voting increase from alumni, she said.
