On March 29, four Duke students were reported by VUPD for shooting fireworks out of a vehicle. They were driving on Kensington Place at 3:12 a.m.
"These students said they were down here from Duke University conducting a pledge task," said Commander Cozby of VUPD.
The students said that they were members of Kappa Alpha fraternity. A report was filed, but no charges were pressed and the students were released.
The report was standardized operating procedure for this type of incident, said Cozby.
"We just informed them that what they were doing was against metro ordinance," Cozby said. "We just double checked their IDs, that they weren't drinking, and that the vehicle was safe, and told them they need to have official business to be back on Vanderbilt property."
