Baseball at Austin Peay, Tuesday at 6 p.m.
With the season winding down in the ultra-competitive Southeastern Conference, the importance of every game becomes amplified, especially for a team with the postseason aspirations Vanderbilt (27-11, 9-7 SEC) has. The Commodores head to Clarksville to face Austin Peay (15-18, 5-7) in a game that has increased intrigue due to the in-state rivalry between the two. The pitching staff has carried the Dores as of late, and they got the latest strong start out of Caleb Cotham, who struck out a career-high 11 batters in 8.1 innings against Auburn on Saturday afternoon.
Player of the Week
Cherice Robertson, track and field
At the Vanderbilt Track and Field Invitational, it was only fitting that a Commodore steal the spotlight. Robertson, a redshirt freshman, did just that. She posted a time of 14.11 in the 100 meter hurdles (a personal best) and also leapt her way to a high jump victory with a jump of 5'7".
Game of the Week
No. 12 women's tennis defeats No. 24 Tennessee 4-0
In a dominant effort by the Lady Dores, Amanda Taylor, Courtney Ulery and Co. took down their in-state rival in the first round of the SEC
Tournament, earning some confidence for the NCAA Tournament before falling to the Florida Gators the following afternoon.
They said it
"The doubles point was really close, and we were fortunate to get that.
Tennessee has some injuries they are dealing with. They are always a great team. After we got the doubles point and got the default at No. 6 singles, we won pretty easily, which is rare for a Vanderbilt-Tennessee match."
