Vanderbilt ranked 14th for sponsoring National Merit scholarships

According to The Chronicle of Higher Education, Vanderbilt University is No. 14 in the nation among schools offering the most scholarships to National Merit Scholars in 2008. Vanderbilt awarded 147 merit finalists in the 2008-2009 academic year.

Marshall Eakin named Ingram Scholars director

A Vanderbilt professor of history who is noted for excellence in teaching and strong commitment to the university's service learning initiatives has been named director of the Ingram Scholars Program.

Marshall Eakin is the new director of the program that provides scholarships to Vanderbilt students who have demonstrated a commitment to combine a career in business or a business-related field with community service. The program, created and endowed by the late Vanderbilt Board of Trust Chairman E. Bronson Ingram, has assisted more than 200 Vanderbilt students since its founding in 1993.
