The “Tactile Clay: Structure and Texture Exhibition” will be open to the public all day in the Studio Arts Center gallery, room 204. The show is curated ceramics professor, Susan DeMay.

Deadline to register at the Outdoor Recreation Center for spelunking in Espey Cave. The trip will be on Sunday, July 20 and costs $24.

Tuesday, July 15

The Children’s Hospital will be hosting a Red Cross blood drive from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. in the second floor Children’s Theatre. For more information and to make your appointment, click here.

The Women’s Center is hosting a discussion group for those interested in making closer connections with others and themselves. Topics may include body image, self-confidence and managing stress. Event will be held in the Gallery of the Margaret Cuninggim Women’s Center from 5:30 p.m. until 6:50 p.m.

Free Israeli folk dancing in the Schulman Center. Warm up and dancing for beginners is held 7:30-8:30 p.m., followed by intermediate, advanced and request dancing from 8:30-10 p.m.

hosted by the Blair School of Music begins today. Registration is open to the
public. Participants have the chance to learn from professionals of bluegrass,

Reading day
Students can spend their day off of school and finals studying in any number of 24/7 study spaces, including The Commons, Sarratt Student Center and the Student Life Center. Most of the locations will have free coffee.

26th annual research forum
This forum is open to all Vanderbilt staff and medical students. Oral presentations will occur from noon to 2 p.m. in the First Tennessee Theater in the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.

‘Obsession: Can a Disease Have a History?’
Lennard Davis, professor of English, Disability and Human development and Medical Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago, will lecture at 4:10 p.m. in the Bishop Joseph Johnson Black Cultural Center Auditorium. A reception will follow the lecture.

Web Spiders meeting
The Spiders Web Developer Group is a forum for networking, sharing and learning. Anyone who is a member of the Vanderbilt community — student, faculty or staff — can join the group, which will meet at 10 a.m. in Sarratt 116.

Poet and professor Bruce Andrews and dancer Sally Silvers will collaborate together at 5 p.m. in Alumni Hall, Room 117.

The Commodores will take on the Kentucky Wildcats at 6 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday at Hawkins Field.

International Stress Fest
International Stress Fest is held annually on the last day of classes in the Spring Semester. This event introduces the campus to relaxation techniques from around the world, including origami, henna tattoos, Turkish fortune readings, international tea tasting, batik tie-dye T-shirts and more in the Student Life Center Ballroom from 3 until 6 p.m.

SPEAR Earth Day celebration
Students can join Students Promoting Environmental Awareness and Responsibility in celebrating Earth Day and learn how to lower their environmental impact and win prizes from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Sarratt Student Center.

Pay Equity Day
On Pay Equity Day, the day on which women’s earnings will match men’s earnings from the previous fiscal year, the Vanderbilt Feminists will be on the Wall during lunch and are inviting students to a meeting at 6 p.m. at the Margaret Cuninggim Women’s Center to discuss and learn more about pay equity, the wage gap and women in the workforce.

All-American Chill Out, Grill Out
Come to the All-American Chill Out, Grill Out on the last day of classes for a final hoorah before exams. Students can enjoy free food, music and games at Branscomb Quad from 5 to 7 p.m. This event will be benefiting the VA Hospital and the troops in Iraq, so students should bring some cash to make a donation.

Vanderbilt Student Film Festival
The second annual Vanderbilt Student Film Festival will cover stories on-campus and in the Nashville community. Fiction topics range from seniors contemplating life after college to a mockumentary on surviving a difficult science class. The festival runs from noon until 11 p.m. in Buttrick Hall, Room 103.

Island Paradise Party
Island Paradise is a fun, tropical-themed party celebrating the end of the academic year and all that the Vanderbilt Lambda Association has accomplished as an organization. Students can drop by the Office of GLBT Life anytime between 7 and 9 p.m. to enjoy the music, tropical decorations and food at the free event.

Students can save an additional 25 percent off clearance merchandise at the Rand Hall Bookstore's annual crazy sale. Tents will be set up on the Rand Terrace from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Rites of Spring
Vanderbilt’s Programming Board will put on the annual Rites of Spring music festival. The indie band Spoon will headline Friday and Lil’ Jon is headlining Saturday. The show starts at 3 p.m. on Alumni Lawn both days.

Tryouts for the Vanderbilt 2008-2009 dance team will take place in the Student Recreational Center Aerobics Room at 1 p.m.

The Vanderbilt baseball team will play Auburn University at 2 p.m. at Hawkins Baseball Field.

Saturday and Sunday
Vanderbilt Hillel is celebrating Passover with three seders this weekend. On Saturday, there will be two seders, one at 5:30 p.m., which will be shortened for Rites of Spring, and another at 8. On Sunday, there will be a traditional seder at 6 p.m. The seders cost $30.

March for Babies benefit
The Vanderbilt Medical Center and the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital are sponsoring the 2008 March for Babies benefiting March for Dimes. Registration begins at 12:30 and the walk starts at 2 p.m. at Centennial Park.

College Halls and Vanderbilt Student Government will introduce the preliminary plans for the new dormitories that will replace Kissam. There will be an info session from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sarratt Promenade. Pizza will be served.

Biology lecturer Steve Baskauf will lead the Words and Woods group on a tour of the Vanderbilt arboretum beginning in Alumni Hall, Room 117 at 3 p.m. He will also discuss the process of designing Vanderbilt's online tree tour.

Come see the world premiere of “Music for Trio” by American composer Lowell Liebermann at 8 p.m. in the Blair School of Music at the Steve and Judy Turner Recital Hall.

Senior lecturer Rosevelt Noble and senior Stephanie Crews will present their documentary series titled "Lost in the Ivy" at noon in the Bishop Joseph Johnson Black Cultural Center Auditorium. The series chronicles the experience of African-Americans at Vanderbilt University from a variety of perspectives.

The African Student Union will host its third annual fashion show to raise money for African Global Mission and FaceAIDS in the Student Life Center Ballroom. Dinner starts at 7 p.m. with the show starting at 7:30. Tickets are $7 for students.
