John McCain should be ashamed…

Just when I thought the McCain campaign could not stoop to lower levels, I was again, proven wildly wrong. To clue you all in real quick, John McCain decided to suspend his campaign to return to Washington and address the financial meltdown facing America. He has said that he will not attend the looming Presidential Debate on Friday unless a bill is passed to solve our economic crisis. McCain may herald himself as someone who puts “Country First”, but this is surely not a display of this whatsoever. America does not need or deserve a political soapbox to serious economic issues or need a detraction on Capitol Hill from a solution. Putting John McCain and Barack Obama in Washington would distract and severely dilute the policy making process. Read more »

Here’s why McCain’s 2:30pm decision to suspend his campaign, play hero, and fly to Washington as well as suspending the debate is a terrible idea and a clearly political move that is sure to backfire:

First, McCain’s move focuses the entire political media stage on the economy. Since the economy has become the top issue in the past two weeks, the swing in the polls has been ridiculous. A new ABC/Washington Post poll shows a 52-43% lead for Obama, and even the latest Fox News poll shows a 6 point lead - 51-46 for Barack Obama. Polls show that the majority of Americans believe that Obama is better able to handle the economy then John McCain. Read more »
