If you travel to Australia, the chances are pretty good that you will also visit Sydney. Almost everyone has heard of this city, even if they have never been to Australia. This city is actually a bit of the cradle of travellers. If friends said; 'I'm going on a trip to Syndey', you knew they wouldn't be back within a week. But what makes this city so special? And why does everyone want to go here so much? In this blog, we share 5 cool things to do in Sydney!
TIP ♥ - we also have a kind of mini travel guide to Sydney where you can find all info on this city
#1 Visit the beautiful beaches
Everyone who travels to Sydney ends up going to one of the beaches. Not surprisingly because Sydney has some impressive beaches. It's the place for Aussies and tourists alike to escape the hustle and bustle and heat of the city. It is one of the most fun things to do.
Some of the world's most beautiful beaches like Bondi and Manly can be found here. Not only are they beautiful... they are also not far from the city centre, making it easy to enjoy an afternoon at the beach. Still, especially at Bondi, it can get pretty crowded. If those crowds aren't for you, there are plenty of other quieter beaches to relax on such as Avalon and Cronulla.
#2 Climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge
Along with the famous Sydney Opera House, the Sydney Harbour Bridge is the city's most famous landmark. You can spot this bridge from different spots of the city, but one of the most fun things to do in Sydney is to climb it!
There are a lot of places in Australia you can climb, but the Sydney Harbour Bridge is one of the best. Over a kilometre long, this bridge is an iconic point in the city. The exhausting climb to the top of the bridge's arch is offered because of the spectacular views over the city. As such, you'll be standing more than 130 metres above Sydney Harbour.
#3 Go to the top of the Sydney Tower Eye
If you're not big on heights, you might want to skip #3. A short distance from the Harbour Bridge is the Sydney Tower Eye. At 304 metres tall, this tower not only offers 360-degree views of the city, it is also the second-highest observation deck in the southern hemisphere.
The Sydney Tower Eye is the ultimate place to watch the city's sunrise and sunset.
TIP ♥ - the cheapest tickets to the tower are AU$28. Check this site for more info
#4 Sydney Opera House
When you think of Sydney, you think of the Sydney Opera House. Do you have friends who have been to Sydney? Then chances are pretty good that they have set a profile picture at some point in which they were standing in front of this iconic building ????
It is The place for music, theatre and culture in Sydney (and the world). It is one of the prime examples of the extraordinary architectural style. You can't just go inside. For that, you'll need tickets to a performance, but you can at least walk by!
#5 Enjoy a drink in Darling Harbour
A bit touristy, but one of the most fun things to do in this city is the Darling Harbour. You probably know that place where they set off the fireworks at New Year's Eve? That's the Darling Harbour! A gathering place of beach bars, restaurants, pavement cafes, museums, shops and fireworks shows.
Besides these shops and bars, you'll also find the Sydney Aquarium and the famous Madame Tussauds. From Darling Harbour, you can also take a water taxi to see the wharf from the water. It's one of the most fun places in Sydney to just unwind from a day of sightseeing!
